Happy Valentine's Day!

Hope everyone had a great weekend, thank goodness for some warm weather, finally!

We worked on Valentines all weekend. Came up with some pretty adorable ones!

These are three of our teacher mugs. They are super easy to make all you need is:

I printed this adorable pink zig zag paper after finding it online at http://www.mygrafico.com
Folding it and cutting it into allowed me to create fun "confetti strips."

I crumpled a few in my hand and dropped them into the bottom of the mug before putting in the gift card.
Next, cut the top (zipper) off of a large ziploc bag, place your mug inside the bag and toss a few more lightly crumpled confetti strips inside. Finish off with a nice bow and a cute label.

For the boys classroom valentines, you can see that we were pretty busy.

Holt wanted cherry flavored chap stick and a lollipop for his friends, and I chose adorable valentine plates (1.99 at Target) for Cort and Rhett's classes.  (Who needs sugar anyway!?)

The best part of all of the valentines were our personalized sticker labels.

These were the girl and boy versions for Holt and Rhett's classmates

This is the label I printed for Cort's little friends

I found these online at Jones Design Company
they are meant to be printed as cards, but worked great as stickers after personalizing them. This is a company definitely worth checking out.

Have a fantastic day with your sweethearts, whoever they may be.

Manic Monday

Song of the Day- Manic Monday-The Bangles
Listen/Watch here

Nothing like a good 80s tune to sing to yourself in the morning.

Today is our first day back at school in exactly ONE WEEK.  We were all so exhausted from the events over our snow week that we slept in until 7:15, which, of course, is a major problem since Holt's tardy bell rings at 8 a.m.

We still had homework to finish, breakfast to eat, teeth to brush (oops we forgot to do that), hair to comb, diapers to change.

Im sitting here laughing about how crazy some mornings are while I spend these three minutes blogging and drinking my coffee.  Rhett wants cinnamon rolls, and chocolate milk but today is an instant oatmeal kind of day. Cort wants apple juice.

How many sippy cups do you think we go through in one day??

Ive got to go pull it together, its my day to work in Holt's cafeteria and I have to pick up a rental car from Enterprise down the street.  A mishap on an icy road led to a broken steering column...fun times.

About this Blog

Music is a root in our household. It was, most definitely, the first thing Scott and I bonded over and had in common. Shortly after we were married in 2004, we found out we were pregnant. I had read studies that explained how babies respond to sounds within the womb, so we decided to expose our growing little dude to everything from Beethoven to Led Zeppelin.  There's no doubt that our little man rocked out and mellowed down to at least a thousand songs in his nine months of growth.

Repeat in 2007

and again in 2009

Today we have a busy house with three young boys. Not surprisingly, they are all fascinated and inspired by all types of music, especially classic rock.  And so, welcome to our blog....fittingly named.

You can't always get what you want

Song of the Day: You Can't Always Get What you Want- The Rolling Stones

Watch/Listen Here

Today is our second snow day in a row.  We loaded the kids up to take them to breakfast to find we were one of the few cars on the road.  This song was playing on the radio, and I thought "how appropriate" as the kids were screaming, complaining and I was selfishly wishing they were at school.

Praise teachers.  I ask myself on mornings like today "How did I EVER survive the summer?"

Truth be known, they really wish they had school too. The boys LOVE their teachers, and yesterday proved that snow days aren't too easy for anyone. It's too cold to play outside, and driving really isn't safe.  Right now, Holt is punching holes in pieces of colored construction paper for his "project".  (I wonder how long this will keep him busy)

Its easy on days like today to plant your kids in front of the TV, (I was totally guilty of this yesterday after a sleepless night)...But my goal for the day is to get my personal "to do list" taken care of before noon so that I can spend the afternoon engaging with the kids.

We may bake cookies, paint pictures, sings songs, listen to music....anything but TV.  We are turning the tables on cabin fever-oh and I forgot to mention that Cort has a regular old fever for the third day in a row.

Wish me luck.
